About Us

The Robin Davis Duo is the sound of decades of music and life lived side by side. Hailing from Pagosa Springs, Colorado, this husband-and-wife team blends tradition and originality with a chemistry that only years together can create. Robin Davis brings rich melodies to life on the fiddle, while Jimi lays down a rhythmic foundation with her clawhammer banjo. Their performances weave together heartfelt original songs and timeless tunes from the bluegrass and old-time canon, all delivered with soul, harmony, and an unmistakable sense of place.

On their second studio album, Starin’ at the Mountain, The Robin Davis Duo offers a fresh and intimate perspective rooted deep in the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado. In a striking role reversal, Robin Davis sets aside his signature guitar work in favor of the fiddle, while Jimi trades upright bass for the earthy tones of clawhammer banjo. The result is a stripped-down, homespun sound that feels both timeless and deeply personal.

Robin also plays mandolin in reverse-super-group Broke Mountain Bluegrass Band, alongside Anders Beck of Greensky Bluegrass, Travis Book of The Infamous Stringdusters, Jon Stickley of Jon Stickley Trio, and Andy Thorn of Leftover Salmon. In December of 2023, Broke Mountain re-released their album "Cabin in the Hills" through Americana Vibes in celebration of its 20th anniversary.

The duo recorded their third studio album as fiddle and banjo players with Scott "Scooter" Smith, sound-man extraordinaire for Sierra Ferrell's live performances. The album, Starin' at the Mountain, released in April of 2025.

Their first self-titled album released in the Fall of 2015 with Robin on guitar and Jimi on upright bass. In 2017, the guitar/bass duo joined Matt Cottle on drums to form grunge-grass trio Dreem Machine. Their self-titled rock and roll record released in the summer of 2022.
